happy birthday mom!

My family is strange and mixed and matched and loud and quiet. My family is like reaching into the sock drawer and finding one polka dot ankle sock and one knee length striped sock in the other hand. Here's a bit about my mom:
My mom is warm, ambitious, a dreamer, a doer, sassy, the first to go against the grain, wild, and holds a childlike enthusiasm for life. Her eyes are big and doe-like and are never without a sparkle. Her hair is tangled in a long, days old braid, spotted with hay and straw from the barn. Her outfits are mixed and matched greens and patterns, paired with her "barn boots." She gets embarrassed when she wears them in public--and she doesn't get embarrassed often. I have never met anyone like my mom and I doubt I ever will. She is intense and vivacious in a way that takes up the whole room. She does not give a single fuck what people think about her and shes loves to dance and smile. She is full of the purest love but also the quickest sass and attitude. She is messy in the most lived in way. She does not have time to clean or keep things tidy because she is too busy living life and starting projects. She is a creator and ceases at nothing. If she wants to learn something, she will. If she wants to do something, she will. Nothing gets in her way. I have never seen anyone push past barriers like my mom does. She owns and starts her own businesses and projects and is the truest entrepreneur. She loves the radio and folk music and has at least five radios on around the house on NPR at all times. She is hopelessly in love with the serenity of nature and also her goats. She is selfless and will give without second thought. She is thrifty and resourceful and creative in ways I could never imagine. She is colorful and free. She laughs off her mistakes and falls asleep after a few sips of wine. If anyone experiences the true joys of life, it is her.
